Gist for Publishers
Gist is a free news app. It points readers to your journalism. You decide how your work appears in it, and we act on your request within 48 hours.
What Gist shows
- Your headline and your publication's name on every story.
- A short summary, clearly labelled. Either it is “Summary from <your publication>”, taken from the description in your own RSS feed or page, or it is marked as written by Gist's AI from that description.
- “Read the full story on <your publication>” as the main button, which opens your page.
What Gist never does
- Copy or store your full articles. Gist only reads the headline and the short description you publish in your feed.
- Store your images. Thumbnails load from your own site.
- Put words in your mouth. Every AI summary is checked automatically before anyone sees it. Every name and number in it must appear in your own text. If one doesn't, the AI summary is thrown away and your own description is shown.
- Show AI summaries in the editions for Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy. There, Gist shows only your headline and a very short extract.
Your choices
- No AI. Show only your headline and your own description, never an AI summary.
- Remove. Gist stops collecting your feeds and hides your stories everywhere in the app.
- Correction. Tell us about an error in a summary. We replace it with your own text.
- Anything else: licensing, attribution, or a different feed to use.
How to ask
